A Busy September

It is one month into the school year. Students are starting to find the routine normal for them and most have finally figured out how to move between classes in a timely fashion. The start of this year has also been complicated by getting new iPads. The iPads have also required learning a new routine. Most students seem to have figured out how to use their new devices responsibly and are eager to use them.

Some of the things we have done in Social Studies so far include learning about map skills, hemispheres, latitude/longitude, landforms, and continents. This week we will continue learning map skills by practicing measuring distance on maps with a scale bar. Students will also have a quiz over the continents and oceans on Friday.

Time is flying by quickly and in two to three weeks we will have conferences. Be sure to put the dates on your calendar: Oct. 19th from 5 pm to 8 pm, and Oct. 20th from 8 am to 8 pm. Scheduling forms will be coming in the mail soon for you to sign up for a time.

Below are some pictures of students in Social Studies class, in Hawk Time, and running the Jogathon.
