Discovering Egypt

After a whirlwind trip through the ancient civilization of Mesopotamia, students will now study ancient Egypt. We spent this last week learning about its geography and the importance of the Nile River. Students also completed a map of modern Egypt and learned some of its important geographic features. They are also working a summary paragraph summing up the important factors that influenced the Egyptians to settle along the Nile.

The next few weeks until break we will continue our study of ancient Egypt. We will discover its social structure, the purpose of pyramids, how they mummified, and how historians structure the history of the ancient Egyptians. That is just a few of the many things we will be learning.

Below are pictures of students working on their Egypt maps.
